News Release
5 March 2010
"Over the past two years of publication we have received a lot of constructive feedback from our readers about how they would like to see Rare Birds Yearbook develop." said editor Erik Hirschfeld. "The World's Rarest Birds incorporates the best of these enhancements while retaining the original ethos of conservation support and influence of its predecessor. Our prime concern continues to be helping to prevent the extinction of the most threatened birds in the world by raising funds and promoting awareness."
The World’s Rarest Birds will feature hundreds of photographs kindly donated by dedicated bird photographers and ornithologists across the world. All photographs submitted for the next edition (due to be published in spring 2011) will be eligible for a prestigious international photographic competition and WILDGuides is pleased to acknowledge the generous support of key sponsors Minox and Lynx Edicions in providing some very exciting prizes of top quality binoculars and books. Anyone can enter the competition at www.theworldsrarest.com. This is an excellent opportunity to see your best photos in print (all featured photographers will also receive a free copy of the 2011 edition), and to be in with a chance of winning a prize. The closing date for The World’s Rarest Birds photographic competition is 31st August 2010 and the winners will be announced in early 2011. This year there are three categories, each with their own set of prizes: 'Critically Endangered & Extinct in the Wild', 'Endangered & Data Deficient' and 'Critcally Endangered migratory species' . For more information on the species to be covered and the exciting prizes to be won, please visit www.theworldsrarest.com.
